5 Foodie Spots to Try in the Palm Harbor Area
A key part of any vacation is the food involved. When you’re traveling to a new place, it can be easy to get overwhelmed by all of the options. How will you know which restaurants are worth trying and which ones you should skip over? Choosing places to eat while traveling can cause unnecessary stress. That’s why we’ve done the work for you here and compiled 5 foodie spots you absolutely have to try in the Palm Harbor area. There’s something for everyone – whether you’re looking for brunch, sandwiches, fine dining, or something else!
Best Foodie Spot for Brunch
It’s only right to start with the first meal of the day. Plus, brunch just feels like a staple of vacation, right? At Craft Street Kitchen, their brunch menu has everything from sweet (French Toast with Bananas) to savory (Skillet Short Rib Hash). They even threw in spicy for good measure with their Buffalo Biscuits and Sweet Heat Bacon Sandwich.
Even if you have someone in your group that isn’t big on brunch, Craft Street Kitchen offers other options on their brunch menu. An added bonus is that if you love the restaurant, they’ve got a regular, non-brunch menu for the rest of the day, too!
Best Foodie Spot for Sandwiches
Sometimes, when you’re on vacation, simpler is better – especially if you’re planning on going to the beach or the pool. There isn’t much better than sitting with your toes in the sand or lounging on a pool chair, delicious sub in hand. While Rocky Mountain Subs is famous for their Philly Cheesesteak sandwich, they’ve got lots more to offer on their menu.
They’ve got toasted subs, which they call Cosmos, where you’ll find classics like an Italian sub or a club sandwich. They’ve also taken on a bbq theme with their rotating specials. Depending on the day that you pop in, you may find any of these specialty subs:
- Hickory Smoked Pastrami
- Tri Tip Steak
- Colorado Cuban
- American Wagyu Brisket
- Sreuben
- Pulled Pork
Rocky Mountain Subs also makes their own sauces: Gold Nugget and BAMA.
Best Foodie Spot for Tacos and Cocktails
Shaker and Peel’s own website says that they are reinventing the taco. After seeing menu options like a Kobe Cheeseburger taco and a Tampa Hot Chicken taco, we can’t help but agree.
Aside from reinventing tacos, Shaker and Peel also has noteworthy daily specials. They have daily happy hour from 12 pm to 6 pm, but also the following daily themes Monday through Thursday:
- Margarita Monday
- Hours: 12 pm to 9 pm
- Special: $2 off all agave drinks
- Taco Tuesdays
- Hours: 12 pm to 9 pm.
- Special: $1 off select tacos
- Cocktail Wednesday
- Hours: 12 pm to 9 pm.
- Special: $2 off all menu cocktails
- Shareable Thursdays
- Hours: 12 pm to 9 pm.
- Special: $2 off all shareable
Shaker and Peel also has gluten-free and vegetarian options for those observing certain diets and lifestyles.
Best Foodie Spot for Fine Dining
Massimo’s in Palm Harbor offers more upscale dining for those that are looking to dress up and go out.
Massimo’s pulls from Italian, French, Mediterranean, and Asian cuisines to create a truly unique menu. There are gluten-free and vegetarian options on the menu, making it a more inclusive dining experience for all. With options like scallops dolloped with Greek yogurt sauce and a classic Penne Vodka, Massimo’s is certainly eclectic dining, as it claims.
Massimo’s also offers private dining in their reservable private room for up to 30 guests. This would be a great option for groups of people vacationing together and celebrating a special occasion.
Best Foodie Spot for Local Coffee Shop
It always seems like one of the most difficult things to do on vacation is find a truly reliable local coffee shop. Most of us have our hometown spots, but what to do when you’re away from home on vacation? Not to fear, because Canes Cafe has got you covered in Palm Harbor.
This little cafe is infused with Italian-Australian influences. It has the feel of an Italian cafe while delighting customers with delicious Australian baked goods like Guinness pie or a vegetable pastie. The cafe also offers take-home pies, which can be a nice alternative to eating out in a restaurant after a long day. Their coffee menu also runs the gamut, offering everything from frappes to matcha lattes to fresh fruit smoothies.
Bonus: after you grab your coffee or smoothie, you can get quick access to Pinellas trail right outside!
Regardless of whether you’re able to try all five of these foodie spots in Palm Harbor or you only make it to a few, experimenting with new restaurants and foods is always a fun and adventurous part of a vacation. And, if you don’t make it to all five on this trip, you can always come back on your next vacation.
