There are two types of people that visit Walt Disney World: the ones that come from far and wide and the locals, who know all of the best tips and tricks. What is a Disney World local? It’s someone who lives in Orlando or other surrounding areas and visits the theme park on the regular. You haven’t done Disney until you’ve done it like a local! Here are 4 Disney hacks that only locals know about:
Now, we’re not suggesting you do anything illegal to try and avoid Disney’s parking fees. We are saying that the locals know some great ways around dishing out an extra $20-$25 to park. One option is using transportation provided by wherever you may be staying. Most Orlando hotels and resorts offer a free shuttle or bus to get you to and from the parks. Another great solution is carpooling and splitting the fee with everyone. This way, you’re all only paying $5 versus $25. Another hack that can be time-consuming but also completely free is parking in Disney Springs. There is no cost to park there. From Disney Springs, you would take a bus to one of the Walt Disney World Resorts. From the resort, you would hop on a bus to one of Disney’s four parks. One thing to keep in mind, if you choose this option, is to make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get back to your vehicle at the end of your day. You’re already spending an arm and a leg to enjoy Disney might as well save on parking if you can!
Don’t get us wrong, food in the Disney parks is delicious but, it can be expensive. Ordering it can also take up your precious time. What do the Disney locals do about this dilemma? They pack their own food, of course! This hack is not something Disney publicly advertises but there are no rules against bringing your own food and non-alcoholic drinks into the parks. Grab yourself a cooler-type lunchbox and you’re ready to roll. The locals will tell you to keep it simple. Sandwiches, pretzels, chips, and lots of water. You can never have too much water when going to theme parks in Florida. This hack is going to save you time and money while keeping everyone fed and hydrated!
Did you know that it is human instinct to go right when given a fork in the road? It’s true! Every Walt Disney World theme park has the option to go left or right once you’ve gone beyond the main entrance. Most people will choose to go right. This is why the locals always go left. More often than not, the left side of the theme park will have shorter lines and way less crowding overall. Choosing this route will allow you to zoom through the first half of your visit in no time! This hack also applies whenever a line for a ride splits. For example, on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, towards the end of the line, you will be given the option to go left or right. The wise choice is to go left. Chances are you will get on the ride much quicker. This simple hack can change the entire direction of your Disney trip!
This one may be one of the best Disney local hacks. To get to Disney’s Magic Kingdom, you have to park at the Ticket and Transportation Center first. Once you’ve parked, you can either take a Monorail or Ferry Boat to get into the actual park. You’ll notice that there are three different Monorail options: the Magic Kingdom Monorail, the Epcot Monorail, and the Resort Monorail. Seems logical to hop on the Magic Kingdom Monorail, right? Wrong! The Resort Monorail makes a stop at the Magic Kingdom. The line for this route is always significantly shorter because most people don’t realize it will take you to the same destination. The best part about this? It works for leaving the park as well. If you’ve ever chosen to stay till after fireworks and seen the line for the Ticket and Transportation Center Monorail, you know that a faster option is a dream come true. The Resort Monorail will get you right back to where you started in half the time. Parents of small children, this will change your life!
