What You Should Know About Disney Springs

Disney Springs, formerly known as Downtown Disney, is the place for all things food, shopping, and of course, Disney! It is a “must-do” on your vacation to Orlando. A wide variety of dining and shopping options, along with a bit of Disney flair, makes it fun for the whole family. But, there are some things you should consider before visiting. Here is everything you should know about Disney Springs in Orlando, Florida:

Be Prepared to Hunt for Parking

Disney Springs offers parking garage-style parking as well as surface parking. There are three parking garages and three surface parking lots. It seems like there should be plenty of space, right? Not always. Disney Springs attracts a lot of people every single day. Therefore, getting in and out can be a bit tricky during certain times. It’s a necessity to make sure that you make preparations to wait in line for parking. You may also have to search a bit. The time to be most mindful of this is when you have a dining reservation. Be sure to give yourself at least an extra hour or so. This way, you’ll have plenty of time to park and get to your dining destination!

Make Disney Springs Dining Reservations

Dining in Disney Springs is a real treat. There are so many different restaurants and types of food to choose from. One notable place is The Boathouse. They offer an upscale menu with a beautiful view. No matter where you decide to dine, making a reservation is a must. It will be nearly impossible to get into a sit-down restaurant in Disney Springs without one. The best way to make a reservation one of these incredible restaurants? Use the MyDisneyExperience app. It’s Disney’s app and key to pretty much everything. Making reservations is fairly simple, and you’ll be thankful you did.

Lots and Lots of Walking

Disney Springs is massive! It spreads out over 20 acres. It is split up into four main sections: the West Side, Town Center, The Landing, and the Marketplace. If you’re planning to hit them all, be prepared to do some walking. There are about two miles between one side (the West Side) and the other side (the Marketplace). You’ll have plenty of stops along the way that will make your two-mile stroll enjoyable; just be sure to wear the right shoes!

It’s Not a Theme Park

Walt Disney World is a big place, and it can be easy to confuse all of the different parks and attractions. It’s important to note that Disney Springs is not the same as the four main Walt Disney World parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom). Like its former name describes, Disney Springs is more of a downtown feel to Disney World. You’ll get shopping, dining, drinking, and even some entertainment when you go there. There are a few small rides but, they are not roller coasters by any means! While it’s not the same as the other parks, it’s just as enjoyable. It can make for a nice break from the theme park rush while on vacation. You’ll get a bit of Disney magic while still feeling like you’ve had a change in scenery. It’s a definite must for your vacation itinerary!

Bring Disney Springs Shopping Money

As mentioned before, shopping is one of the main attractions of Disney Springs. There are over 150 different stores to choose from! You’ll find everything from Disney-themed stores to shops of noteworthy brands. It is also home to the largest retail store in Walt Disney World, The World of Disney. Be sure to budget some shopping spending money because there’s sure to be something to catch your eye. Whether it’s something trendy from Zara or unique from the Disney Co-Op shop, you’re bound to have to make room in your suitcase for your new finds!

Tactical parking, delicious dining, lots of walking, and the best shopping; Disney Springs really does offer it all! It’s a great place for the entire family to enjoy. Adult-friendly restaurants and shops, as well as places the kids will love. If you haven’t put it on your itinerary, what are you waiting for? The only thing better than visiting Disney Springs on your trip would be having a great place to stay, as well! Be sure to visit M&L Vacation Rentals to make your trip the best it could possibly be.
